Plans
The API Evangelist API and MCP server are built on sixteen years of independent API research. Discovery is free. The research depth — full content, curated guides, and catalog intelligence — is Pro.
| Free | Pro | Team | Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $29/mo | $149/mo | Contact |
| Access | Discovery — search, browse, tags, related, summaries | Everything, incl. full content, /guide, /stats | Everything in Pro | Everything + advisory |
| Keys | Keyless | 1 key | Multiple keys | Negotiated |
| Rate limit | 1,000 req/day | 5,000 req/day | 25,000 req/day | Custom |
| Support | Community | Priority email | Kin, directly |
Pro and Team unlock the same capabilities — Team adds multiple keys, higher limits, and priority support for a group. Enterprise pairs API access with Kin Lane's advisory engagements. Prices are introductory; annual billing and volume pricing are available on request.
Free
Everything you need to discover and navigate the network, keyless:
- Search & browse every content type — 5,250+ stories, 77 topic areas, 2,600+ governance building blocks, papers, conversations, videos, solutions, tools, and vocabulary.
- Summaries & metadata for every item (title, summary, tags, links).
- Tag taxonomy —
/tagsand/tags/{slug}: the map of everything API Evangelist covers. - Related content —
/{type}/{slug}/related: the shared-tag relevance graph across the network. - Insights discovery —
/insights/dimensions,/insights/adoption,/insights/companies: the demand-side view of what ~5,800 companies build, buy, and hire for. - Demand entity catalog —
/insights/entities: every service, tool, and standard companies are measured against, ranked by reach. Each response states the corpus, the matcher, and the truncation that bounds it. - Standards measurement —
/standards/measuredand/standards/{slug}/adoption,/coalition,/repositories: what a standards body actually ships — repositories published, how many graduated, who governs it, which companies pay for membership — for the 13 bodies profiled so far. Free on purpose: a specification is a public good, so an honest read of its adoption should not sit behind a paywall. Every response names what is not measured rather than implying zero. - Contact — every way to engage.
Rate limits: 5 req/s, 1,000 req/day. No key required.
Pro
The research layer — for teams and agents that need the depth, not just the map:
| Capability | Endpoint / tool | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Full research content | ?include=content on any item | The complete markdown bodies and transcripts — the actual research, ready to quote and synthesize. |
| Curated topic guides | /guide?topic= · guide_topic | One call bundles the topic area, top guidance/rules/policies/standards, papers, recent stories, and the services that can help. |
| Catalog intelligence | /stats · get_stats | Per-type counts, stories-per-year, and the top tags by reach across the network. |
| Insights company depth | /insights/company/{slug} · get_company_insight · company_gaps | The full 40-dimension demand-side profile of a Fortune 1000 / provider company, its adopted stack, and where it's thin. (Discovery — /insights/dimensions, /adoption, /companies — stays free.) |
| Benchmarked dimensions | /insights/company/{slug}/dimensions · company_dimensions | Every dimension read against the measured cohort — median, mean, max, rank, percentile, and an index where 1.0 is exactly typical. A raw score of 26 is unreadable; these are the columns that make it mean something. |
| Peers & whitespace | /insights/company/{slug}/peers · /whitespace · /signals | The companies most comparable to this one, what they run that it does not, and its own stack entity by entity with each entity's reach across the cohort. |
| The demand inversion | /insights/entity/{kind}/{slug} · entity_demand | Which companies show demand for a given service, tool, or standard, broken down by industry. Every other endpoint runs company → stack; this one runs stack → companies. It is the prospecting query, and it exists in no report or bundle. |
Pro also unlocks the paid MCP prompts (research_topic, governance_starter_kit,
vendor_landscape) and the ae://stats / ae://guide/{topic} MCP resources.
Every Pro capability above is available as both a REST endpoint and an MCP tool — the MCP is a pass-through over the same API, so the two return identical results and there is one paywall, not two.
Governance & Discovery API
The Governance & Discovery API — the API Commons tools as a hosted service — uses the same Free/Pro line. Checking an API is free; generating artifacts, certifying, auditing repos, and rolling up across many APIs is Pro.

| Coverage · Waivers · HTML report · Verify | /governance/coverage · /waivers · /report · /verify | Free |
